At Walton Gas, sharing the warmth is about more than energy. We believe in giving back to build stronger, sustainable Georgia communities.

As a subsidiary of consumer-owned Walton EMC, we embrace cooperative values, which prioritize community caring. Through corporate giving and employee volunteerism, we’re committed to going beyond gas pipelines and meters to make meaningful connections with the people and places we serve.

Walton Gas employees sort through donations at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia

Walton Gas employees sort through more than 3,000 pounds of donations at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia before preparing nearly 100 food boxes for seniors. Employees are, from front to back, Savannah Chandler, Ashlie Franklin, Madison Hutchins, Pete Ervin, Jennifer Broun, Rigs Santos, Kerie Garrett and Jim Bottone.

Through donations of time, money and other resources, we take tangible steps to honor our pledge to improve the quality of life for Georgians in all phases, and all walks, of life. We support a variety of organizations, programs and initiatives that benefit local philanthropic organizations. We also partner with others in the business community to sustain worthwhile causes and activities that strengthen this place we call home.

Customers’ votes play a role in our cornerstone community service project, Champions for Charity that supports three Georgia nonprofit organizations. In November during a University of Georgia football game, checks totaling $46,000 were presented to Camp Twin Lakes, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Annandale Village.

To make the most meaningful impact in our communities, Walton Gas also put energy into these distinct areas of giving and employee volunteerism in 2024:

EDUCATION

We encourage education and training in science, technology, engineering, arts and math to bolster workforce development and community vitality.

  • AthFest Educates – Walton Gas is a presenting sponsor and employees support as race day volunteers and participants. Proceeds fund high-quality music and arts education programming for kindergarten through 12th grade in the Athens-Clarke County school system.
  • Boys & Girls Club of Walton County – Walton EMC employees, with the support of Walton Gas employees, organized a charity golf tournament that raised $48,000 to support youth in achieving academic success, character and leadership development, and a healthy lifestyle.
  • Snellville Shark Tank – Two Walton employees were among business leaders who served as judges for the pitch competition that gives Gwinnett County students entrepreneurs the opportunity to present their business ideas. Walton Gas contributed $500 in seed money to help students finance their ideas.
  • Clarke County Mentorship Program – Walton Gas co-sponsored the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce’s Swing into Spring Golf Tournament, raising money for the program that pairs students with mentors in all 21 schools in the Clarke County School District.
