If you’ve been told your home falls into the “Outer Pool Group” for natural gas, you may be wondering what that really means, and how it affects your service and costs. Let’s break it down.
What Is the
Outer Pool Group?
The Outer Pool Group includes properties that are farther away from the main natural gas distribution lines. This typically includes rural neighborhoods, homes in low-density areas, or properties near the edge of our service territory.
Walton Gas can serve your natural gas needs as long as you’re on Atlanta Gas Light Company’s pipelines (in the dark blue shaded area).
*Natural gas customers in the dark blue area on the map may be eligible for our service.
Why Is There a Higher Customer Service Fee?
Because your home is located beyond the main service zone, delivering natural gas requires more infrastructure, labor, and ongoing maintenance. Here’s why:
Extended Infrastructure
We often need to install longer stretches of pipe to reach your property.
Tougher
Terrain
Rural and remote areas may have rocky soil, hills, or other obstacles that make installation more complex.
Ongoing Service Support
It also takes more resources to monitor, maintain, and service areas that are farther out.
This added complexity is reflected in a slightly higher monthly customer service fee.
